Next year marks the 250th birthday of the United States of America. Will you be ready?
What do you know about the Declaration of Independence? What you don’t know may surprise you as you’ll find out when you visit the Chatham County Historical Society on September 7 at 2:00 to hear Courtney Smith’s talk on “Everything You Should Have Learned in High School About the Declaration of Independence.”
Smith, Exhibits and Programs Coordinator for the Orange County Historical Museum, has a Master’s degree in Teaching History from UVA. She has lectured widely on this foundational document and has put together an engaging and enlightening program that examines the theories and context behind it and translates the document into ‘plain language’ that anyone can understand.
It’s everything you should have learned about the Declaration of Independence--but probably didn’t. Without the homework. Or the tests.
