Everything You Should Have Learned in HIgh School About the US Constitution

Sunday, September 6, 2026 (2:00 PM - 3:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

Continuing our semiquincentennial celebration of America’s founding, the Chatham County Historical Association is pleased to welcome back Courtney Smith on September 6 at 2:00pm to talk about Everything You Should Have Learned in High School About the US Constitution. Smith, Exhibits and Programs Coordinator for the Orange County Historical Museum, has a master’s degree in teaching history from UVA. She gave a very popular talk at CCHA last year about the Declaration of Independence. She’s a lively and engaging speaker who has put together a program that examines the context behind this foundational document, explains the basic powers provided and forbidden to the government, and translates it into language that anyone can understand. It’s everything you should have learned about the Constitution—but probably didn’t. (And, there will be no homework or tests.) Sunday, September 6, 2:00pm Historic Chatham County Courthouse, 9 Hillsboro Street, Pittsboro Admission is free. All are welcome!
