The Chatham County Historical Association invites you to join “NC History: Between the Lines”, a monthly book club exploring North Carolina’s rich past. Our next meeting is Saturday, July 18, at 9:30 AM at the Chatham County Historic Courthouse in Pittsboro.
This month, we’ll be discussing Redcoats on the Cape Fear: The Revolutionary War in Southeastern North Carolina, by Robert M. Dunkerly. The city of Wilmington, N.C., played a pivotal role in the Revolutionary War—for both sides. While British troops patrolled the Cape Fear River, local farmers and townspeople faced danger, disruption and difficult choices. Through in-depth research and local accounts, this book shows how ordinary people helped shape the fight for independence right here in North Carolina.
