Relaxing Into the In-Between: A Yin Yoga Practice with Susan Friedman

Relaxing Into the In-Between: A Yin Yoga Practice with Susan Friedman

Sunday, November 1, 2026 (5:00 PM - 6:15 PM) (EST)

Description

Offered as part of The Road to Death Faire.

In Tibetan, Bardo means "gap," or "intermediate state”. While most famously known as the transitional state of consciousness between death and rebirth, it broadly describes any in-between moment or phase where one condition has ended and a new one has not yet formed. Transitions occur continuously in our lives, sometimes generating excitement and often uncertainty, anxiety, and grief.

In this Yin Yoga practice, we will explore the Bardo of this life by accessing the pauses between breaths, thoughts, and actions through gentle yoga asana, breathing practices, and meditation. Together, we will relax into the bardo with curiosity, allowing us to examine our relationship to uncertainty with confidence and ease.

Susan Friedman's yoga began twenty years ago, a search for relief from pain and overwork. In the quiet on the mat, she discovered that the breath eases the gap between discomfort and ease. In addition to teaching yoga, she is a social worker dedicated to community care. In her classes, she facilitates spaces where the heart can rest and the spirit can reflect. Her approach is trauma-informed and deeply rooted in empathy, weaving together the wisdom of yoga, meditation, and Tai Chi to foster emotional resilience and collective healing. She is a 500-hour Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher and a certified Tai Chi Practice Leader.
