The Shakori Hills Community Arts Center’s mission is to provide diverse, culturally significant arts, music and sustainability education and inclusive outreach to our local community and schools, while preserving the greenspace of its 72-acre Chatham County homestead. As a nonprofit organization, Chatham County’s beautiful Shakori Hills is best known for hosting the bi-annual Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival every May and October, a family-friendly celebration of music, dance, art, & education—always the first full weekend of May and the first full weekend of October. The Hoppin' John Fiddlers' Convention is a three-day annual festival held every September. In addition, the Arts Center organizes the Roots in the Schools program, bringing musicians, artists and dancers into local schools to help supplement the curriculum. As we grow, we are pleased to offer workshops and classes, many of them free of charge, throughout the year to our community.
