About
West Chatham Food Pantry opened in 2007 with the mission to obtain and distribute free food to the hungry of Chatham County, primarily in the western portion of the county and to collaborate with similar food programs of other community based organizations such as the Interfaith Food Shuttle and Central and Eastern NC Food Bank. We provide assistance needed by the unemployed and low-income residents of the community and also serve as a safety net to those who suddenly encounter unforeseen emergencies such as job loss, family illness or other family emergency. Since opening our doors, qualifying families have been able to receive food from our facility every 2 weeks. The Pantry also provides a backpack program for elementary students who qualify. We operate solely by volunteers and there is a job for everyone. Days and Hours of Operation are: We will serve clients from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Effective November 2, 2020., Wednesday: 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., Friday: 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. We are feeding ALL Chatham County residents, no matter their status and whether they are current recipients or not. The WCFP is now a Designated Disaster Relief Agency in the Western sector of Chatham County. In the event a disaster happens, West Chatham residents can come to the pantry to receive assistance.
